Tips on how you can grow on social media without spending too much time on it

5 Tips to Help You Grow Your Social Media Presence Without Going Crazy

If you’re like most small business owners, your time is precious and limited. You don’t have time to read all the books about social media or follow every hashtag or attend every webinar about growing your business on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and the like — no matter how informative they might be. So I’ve put together this list of 5 tips that will help you grow your business on social media without spending too much time on it.

1) Follow accounts you like

Following accounts on social media is a good way to passively build your own following. If you find other people or brands compelling, follow them. In fact, it doesn’t matter who they are; following is just another way of saying social media marketing agency. Like and share their posts. Comment on them when you have something meaningful or interesting to say. The point is to get noticed by real people, not bots or algorithms. As long as you don’t spam, you can also use social media management software like Hootsuite to schedule posts in advance. And if you want to take things one step further, hire a digital marketing agency. It will be worth every penny (and then some).

Another thing you should do is create high-quality content that informs people about your industry and makes them think, These guys know what they’re talking about! When you post great content, people start to follow your brand because they respect what you have to say. They may even start sharing that content with others too. That boosts engagement with your account without any extra effort from you. After all, social media marketing agency handles that for you!

2) Use hashtags

If you’re thinking of buying digital marketing services, then it’s a good idea to use hashtags on your tweets and posts. For example, #MarketingTipsTuesday or #SocialMediaExpert will help you gain more visibility on social media. Research shows that Twitter users often look for relevant hashtags before they follow accounts. Make sure your hashtags have meaning so you get noticed by prospective followers who are genuinely interested in what you have to say.

Try joining hashtags related to your industry as well as social media management tools such as Hootsuite and Tweetdeck so you can track conversations easily. This will give you an insight into customer pain points and areas where potential customers might be getting stuck with their online marketing efforts.

3) Engage with others

Be part of a digital marketing agency, a social media management firm or have people on your team with these capabilities. Whether you outsource a portion of your social media presence or it’s completely in-house, make sure you’re collaborating and engaging with others throughout its growth. Digital marketing agencies are experts at social media marketing and can provide some insight into how best to engage with your audience. Even if they don’t offer consulting services, you can use them as sounding boards for ideas, helping to determine what types of content will be most effective for different platforms. Additionally, social media management firms help businesses manage their social media accounts so that time isn’t wasted trying to keep up with each platform. If you choose to manage your own social media pages, having someone else do it for you is an option; however, consider outsourcing one person from each platform rather than hiring an entire firm to handle everything—you might find that one person is enough.

4) Curate content

Make sure you’re keeping up with relevant news and sharing what you find. Search engine marketing professionals also say it’s important to mix up your content. Use videos, text, audio, photos, infographics, GIFs—whatever format works best for your brand and audience. Mixing it up will help create more interaction on social media channels, too; all those flashy visuals grab people’s attention better than just words! The only caveat here is that you shouldn’t spend so much time curating content that you end up spending no time posting original stuff of your own. And don’t forget: It doesn’t matter how much awesome content you share if no one sees it! In order to be successful at search engine marketing, make sure your posts are interesting enough to stand out from other brands and make their way into users' feeds.

5) Reply to comments

The social news and entertainment website Reddit has users, called redditors, who form communities (called subreddits) around certain topics and vote up or down on comments posted within their communities. The comments with more up-votes rise to the top of that subreddit’s page, which means you can use Reddit as a free tool for social media marketing by entering your company name into a relevant subreddit and then replying to comments your potential customers have left. This is one of my favorite tools for social media management because it keeps me from having to spend time checking various social networks individually. And since Reddit isn’t filled with ads like Facebook and Twitter are, I don’t feel guilty when I take advantage of it!
